Potato Sagu Recipe

A very simple and tasty side dish for Poori and Rava Idli.
Potato Sagu
     
     Preparation time :  30mis        Serves : 4-8  people
    Total Time Taken : 40 mins
          
           Ingredients:

Potato: 2 medium sized
Onion- 1 big
Green Chili : 3 
     Ginger : 1”
     Oil, mustard, urid dal, chana dal, curry leaves & turmeric for seasoning
      Salt
      Maida – 1 tsp.
      Water
       Lemon Juice – 1tsp (optional)
       Coriander leaves – Garnishing
Method :
1.Wash and cook potatoes in pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles. Let it cool. Peel the potatoes and mash. Clean and cut onions into small cubes. Slit green chilies lengthwise. Grate ginger and keep it ready.
 2.Heat 2tsp oil in a pan. Add mustard. When mustard stops popping add in dals. When dals start turning red curry leaves, green chili, onions, grated ginger and turmeric. Mix well. Fry till onions are soft.
3.Add in mashed potatoes and mix well. Add 100-150ml of water and mix slowly. Sagu has to be thin and runny. Mix a tsp of maida in 2 tsp of water and make a paste. Add this paste to potato mixture and mix well. Add salt and bring to boil. Taste and adjust the salt.
4.If you prefer tangy taste add a tsp of lemon juice and switch off the stove. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve warm with Poori or Rava idli.
